In short: we collect what is needed to run Sehri sign-ups and deliveries. We do not show ads, sell data, or use analytics or tracking tools. The app does not process payments.
What we collect
When you create an account
- Name, mobile number, gender and occupation (student, employee or other).
- Where to deliver: area, locality, college zone and your hostel or PG address.
- A password, which is stored only in hashed form.
- A one-time code sent by SMS to verify your number.
When you use the app
- Your answers to the nightly Sehri poll, and any special-case requests.
- Feedback and content reports you send, and replies from admins.
- Profile changes you ask for, until an admin reviews them.
- A push notification token, so we can send Sehri reminders, delivery alerts and replies. You can turn notifications off in your phone's settings.
When you record a donation
- Your name (unless you choose to donate anonymously), the amount, an optional message, and a screenshot of your payment.
- If you are not signed in, your mobile number so we can confirm the donation.
Payments are made in your own UPI app. The One Message app and website never receive or process your money or banking details beyond what is visible in the screenshot you choose to upload.
Delivery riders only
- The rider's name and phone number.
- Precise location while the rider is broadcasting a delivery, including when the app is closed or not in use. Location collection starts only after the rider agrees on an in-app notice and grants permission, and stops when they tap Stop. The most recent position is stored for the live map.
Admins only
- Messages in the staff chat between admins.
- When placing a pin on the delivery map, the phone's location may be used to centre the map. It is not stored.
Technical data
- Our server keeps short-lived logs of requests (such as IP address and time) to keep the service secure and fix problems.
We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone or photo library. To attach a payment screenshot, the system photo picker gives the app only the one image you choose.
How we use it
- To verify your phone number and let your zone admin approve your account.
- To plan how much Sehri to prepare, and to deliver it to your zone.
- To show the live delivery map, and to send reminders and alerts.
- To verify donations and keep a record of them.
- To answer feedback and handle reports.
Who can see your information
- Your zone admin and the super admins can see your account details, poll answers, donations and feedback, so they can organise Sehri for your zone.
- Anonymous donations: your name is hidden from everyone except the admin who verifies the payment.
- Rider location is shown to app users on the live tracking map during a delivery.
- Other students cannot see your personal details.
Service providers
We use trusted service providers to host the app, store payment screenshots, send SMS codes and deliver notifications. They process data only to provide these services for One Message and are required to protect it as described in this policy.
We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
- Your account is kept while you use the app.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app: Profile → Delete my account. This removes your account and login straight away.
- Records of past Sehri poll answers, donations (including payment screenshots) and feedback may be kept for the organisers' records.
- You can also ask us to delete your account and data by email. See how to delete your account.
Security
The app talks to our server over HTTPS, and passwords are stored only in hashed form. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit access to admins who need it to run the service.
Children
One Message is meant for college students and working people. It is not directed at children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. Important changes will also be announced in the app.
